Study tour to industrial estate
Last week I had a chance to go on an industrial trip to HATAR, an industrial estate. We visited a factory that was making transformers for electric supply company.
We were a group of students and one of our teachers was also with us. We left university about 7am and reached at factory around 9am. It was my first industrial trip so I was very excited to know about industry, how stuff works there, how manufacturing take place.
First we meet with manager of factory, he was very cooperative person, and he welcomed us in his factory with much pleasure. It was a guided tour, that manager was our guide.
The factory covered a huge area; operators were working on machines in different departments. First we visited the place where iron sheets were being prepared, a machine was cutting calculated pieces of iron in specific shapes. Manager told us that it was core making process, the shape and thickness of sheets are very important in manufacturing, these affects the voltage being transformed, so it was a key quality perimeter in transformers.
I would like to recommend that place for high school students. They must visit that place, it will give them brief introduction about Electrical engineering and will clear their concepts about manufacturing of transformers, how different stuff is used in engineering, how quality is maintained and how demands of consumers are meet.
